Damper and PRO cage for Yamaha MT07

Difference Between Crazy Iron PRO and DAMPER Crash Cages

One of the most common questions we receive from our customers is not “Where is my order?”, but “What is the difference between the  cages, and why is the price different?”. This is a very good question, because at first sight both versions look almost the same — they have similar shape, design, and mounting points. But the internal structure and function of these cages are quite different.

The Crazy Iron DAMPER cage is equipped with a special damper-type slider. Each slider has an aluminum inner core with a caprolon (plastic) outer tip, and inside it there is a rubber insert that provides shock absorption during a fall or impact. This system allows the slider to slightly move inside and shorten when it hits the ground, which helps to reduce the impact force on the motorcycle frame. Thanks to this feature, the DAMPER cage offers better protection and smoother energy absorption.

The Crazy Iron PRO cage uses classic, shorter sliders. These sliders have a smaller mounting diameter, and because of that, the PRO cage is 3–4 cm narrower than the DAMPER version. The PRO cage still provides very good protection for street and light stunt use, but it does not include the inner damper mechanism.

Another important difference is in the mounting area of the sliders. The DAMPER cage has a reinforcing ring and a larger inner diameter. The two systems are not compatible: PRO sliders cannot be installed into a DAMPER cage, and DAMPER sliders will not fit a PRO cage because they are physically larger. Therefore, changing sliders will not convert one type of cage into another.

We advise to check the tightness of all bolts regularly to avoid losing any parts, especially after long rides or track use. If your motorcycle produces strong vibrations, please use a thread locker when installing the sliders and damper tips.

Both Crazy Iron PRO and DAMPER crash cages are designed and manufactured using high-quality steel and precision welding. Whichever version you choose, you can be sure that it offers strong and reliable protection for your motorcycle.
