Crash Protection for the KTM Duke Range

KTM Duke motorcycles are popular for a reason. They combine responsive handling, relatively low weight and powerful engines in a compact package. The range covers everything from entry-level 125cc models to the more powerful Duke 790, 890 and 990.

At Crazy Iron, we have been developing motorcycle crash protection for more than 20 years. KTM is one of the brands we have worked with extensively, and our product range includes crash bars, PRO and DAMPER crash cages, subcages and specialized stunt equipment for several Duke generations.

KTM Duke 125, 200, 250 and 390

The smaller Duke models have always been popular with new riders. The 125, 200, 250 and 390 are frequently used for learning, everyday riding and, in some cases, stunt training.

Drops are part of the learning process, so fitting proper crash protection is worth considering from the beginning.

For these KTM models, Crazy Iron offers several protection options:

• Crash Bars – a compact and lightweight alternative to a full crash cage, providing protection around the vulnerable areas of the motorcycle.

• PRO Crash Cages – a more comprehensive protection system designed to protect the engine and other exposed components.

• DAMPER Crash Cages – equipped with spring-loaded sliders designed to help absorb impact energy.

• Rear Subcages – additional rear protection, particularly useful for stunt training and motorcycles that experience frequent drops.

Our protection systems for smaller KTM Duke models have also been ordered for stunt training bikes. This is a good example of how the same products can serve both everyday riders and those who use their motorcycles for more demanding purposes.

KTM Duke 790 and 890: Developed with Stunt Riding in Mind

The Crazy Iron crash cage for the KTM Duke 790 and 890 is one of the most successful products in our KTM range.

This design was developed with input from professional stunt rider Aras Freestyle. His practical experience, comments and specific requirements were taken into account during development.

The result is a crash cage designed not just for occasional parking drops, but also for the demands of stunt riding. The construction provides protection while allowing the motorcycle to remain suitable for its intended use.

Aras has ridden with this Crazy Iron cage, and the design has also received positive feedback from our customers.

KTM Duke 990: Equipment for Professional Stunt Riding

With the introduction of the KTM Duke 990, our work with professional stunt riders continued. Rok Bagoroš joined Aras Freestyle in using and showcasing Crazy Iron equipment for the KTM platform.

Professional stunt riding puts very different demands on motorcycle components. Protection needs to withstand repeated impacts, and additional equipment must be designed around the specific requirements of the rider and motorcycle.

• Handbrake Mounts – mounting brackets for an additional rear brake system, commonly used in stunt riding.

• Adjustable Subcages – rear protection systems designed for stunt applications.

• Stunt Pegs – additional pegs for stunt riding.

• Stunt Rearsets – specially designed protective rearset assemblies intended for stunt riding, helping protect the footpeg area and related motorcycle components during drops and impacts.

• Custom CNC Parts – we can manufacture sprockets and other CNC-machined motorcycle components to individual specifications.
